Descaling cleans the water lines, but it will not fix a clogged needle. Finely ground coffee often backs up into the hollow steel tubes that pierce the foil lid and plastic base of the capsule. These needles have tiny side ports that scale-cleaning fluid cannot always clear under zero pressure.

Unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. Raise the brewer handle to expose the upper pod chamber. Look underneath the top housing to locate the sharp stainless steel puncture needle. Take a standard metal paper clip, straighten one leg, and insert the wire tip gently into the small ports surrounding the needle base. Wiggle it to dislodge compressed grounds, keeping your fingers clear of the razor tip.

Remove the pod basket assembly by pulling firmly upward from the bottom rim. Separate the funnel base from the pod holder. Inspect the bottom exit needle. Poke through the tube channel from underneath to push trapped debris out through the cup seat. Rinse both plastic pieces under running hot water before snapping them back into place.
