Joey Jordison's Personal Life Uncovered: Official Records Vs. Fan Speculation
After leaving Slipknot, Jordison poured his energy into VIMIC, a project developed alongside singer Kalen Chase, guitarist Jed Simon, and bassist Kyle Konkiel. The group recorded an entire full-length record titled Open Your Omen, produced alongside Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine. Label delays, shifting distributor priorities, and Jordison's untimely death locked the completed album inside contract purgatory for years.
Rather than letting the recordings sit on hard drives, Jordison’s family announced plans in April 2025 to release the record themselves. By July 2025, the family launched an official Kickstarter campaign to fund the physical pressing, mastering, and global distribution of Open Your Omen. Metal Injection and MetalSucks documented the campaign, noting that the Jordison estate chose crowdfunding to avoid predatory licensing terms that often strip families of control over posthumous works.
Supporters backed the project within hours. For the Jordison family, the campaign served two functions: it guaranteed his final drum tracks reached listeners exactly as he intended, and it generated self-sustaining archival funds without needing approval from legacy record executives.
