How Regular Show: the Lost Tapes Protects Pops' Series Finale Canon
By Sarah Jenkins
Revivals often risk cheapening the legacies of the stories they expand. By choosing an interquel format for *Regular Show: The Lost Tapes*, J.G. Quintel and Cartoon Network pulled off a rare creative victory: delivering fresh material featuring the full classic ensemble without eroding the emotional finale fans spent eight seasons earning.
Pops Maellard remains the heart of *Regular Show*. His laughter, gentle nature, and final cosmic stand gave an anarchic slacker comedy its lasting soul. Seeing him share screen time once again with Mordecai and Rigby doesn't undo his heroic end; it reminds us why his sacrifice mattered so much in the first place.
