Why Is Elvis Taking over Tiktok? Inside the Wild 'Hound Dog' Meme Takeover
By James H. Sterling
The persistent resurgence of mid-century rock tracks across video feeds confirms that legacy music will not survive in digital spaces through pristine museum preservation. It survives through digital vandalism. When younger audiences repurpose classic art on their own terms, they inevitably dismantle its original reverence, rebuilding it into something wild, strange, and suited for modern devices.
Presley built his career by upending the staid musical decorum of the 1950s, using raw physical agitation to provoke conventional authorities. The teenagers remixing his vocals into chaotic, bass-rattling audio bites are operating with that identical chaotic energy. The King of Rock and Roll has not been forgotten by the modern generation; he has simply been accelerated, bass-boosted, and thrown directly back into the digital fray.
James Sterling reports on renewable energy developments, climate policy, ecological conservation, and green tech innovations around the globe.
