Who Is Mido? Career History, Net Worth, Health Status, and Family Controversies
By Maya Lin-Takahashi
After brief stops at Marseille and a frustrating stint at AS Roma under multiple managerial changes, Mido arrived at White Hart Lane in January 2005. At Tottenham Hotspur, working under Dutch manager Martin Jol, he found his sharpest form outside the Netherlands. Mido scored twice on his Premier League debut against Portsmouth and established a formidable partnership with Robbie Keane.
Across the 2005, 2006 season, Mido hit 11 goals in 27 league appearances, providing Tottenham with the physical focal point they needed to challenge Arsenal for fourth place. Spurs turned his loan permanent for a reported fee of £4.5 million in the summer of 2006. Yet fitness issues, nagging injuries, and weight management problems soon unraveled his momentum. A £6.8 million move to Middlesbrough in 2007 failed to reignite his engine, followed by unconvincing loan spells at Wigan Athletic, West Ham United, and a brief return to his boyhood club Zamalek.
