Who Is Leopold Stotch? the Ultimate Character Guide to South Park's Butters
When Kenny McCormick was killed off semi-permanently at the end of Season 5, Parker and Stone auditioned Butters as the fourth member of the primary boy group alongside Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, and Eric Cartman. The experiment lasted half a season. The boys deemed Butters too pathetic, insecure, and clumsy to run with them, abruptly firing him in Season 6, Episode 6, "Professor Chaos."
Spurned by his peers, Butters retreats to his basement and creates a supervillain persona. Armed with aluminum foil gauntlets, a green cape, and cardboard armor, Professor Chaos sets out to bring the world to its knees. His diabolical plots, swapping soup orders at restaurants, stealing chalkboard erasers, and threatening to flood the earth with garden hoses, reflected an eight-year-old boy's innocent perception of terror. Alongside Dougie, a bullied fourth-grader who took the mantle of General Disarray, Professor Chaos became an enduring recurring antagonist.
