What Song Has the Lyrics 'Tiptoe by the Window'? Full Lyrics, Artist, and Horror Movie Guide
Tiny Tim’s real-life story ended with an eerie parallel to the song that made him famous. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Khaury’s star faded into obscurity. He played small circus tents, community halls, and country bars to survive, battling diabetic heart disease and severe financial strain. He refused to abandon the music he loved.
On November 30, 1996, Khaury was performing at a gala benefit hosted by the Minneapolis Woman’s Club in Minnesota. Despite his doctor warning him that performing could kill him, he took the stage. He launched into his final rendition of "Tiptoe Thru the Tulips." As he finished the song, his third wife, Sue Gardner, took his arm to guide him to his seat. Gardner asked him how he was feeling. Khaury offered his brutally honest last words: "No, I'm not." He collapsed on stage moments later from cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at the age of 64.
Khaury died with his favorite song on his lips. His lifelong devotion to early American melodies kept him performing until his heart gave out, adding a poignant, tragic layer to a piece of music that pop culture refuses to let rest.
