What Does 'Smoking on That Big Mom Pack' Mean? the Viral Anime Meme Explained
By Sarah Jenkins
The meme owed much of its longevity to the characters responsible for Linlin’s downfall. Eustass Kid and Trafalgar Law represented the "Worst Generation," a cohort of upstarts constantly contrasted against Monkey D. Luffy. For hundreds of chapters, skeptics claimed neither possessed the firepower to contend with an Emperor. Big Mom was a natural force who had shrugged off gear-fourth blows and artillery strikes alike.
When Law silenced her and Kid pinned her down, the dynamic shifted overnight. It gave rival character stans their own ammunition. Fans of Law and Kid seized the meme as vindication. They produced visual edits pairing phonk audio tracks with panels of Kid grinning through his metallic scrap constructs.
The phrase functioned as an equalizer. Big Mom was an oppressive narrative force who derailed plots, terrified protagonists, and consumed screen time across two massive story arcs. Dropping her into a magma pit transformed her from a terrifying myth into punchline material. In the eyes of the internet, she had ceased being an unbeatable titan and had become, quite literally, fuel for celebration.
