Wednesday Season 1 Cast Then Vs. Now: Tracking Every Original Star's Journey
By Robert Thorne
Q1: Why was the filming location moved from Romania to Ireland after Season 1?
A1: Production relocated to County Wicklow, Ireland primarily due to logistical, weather, and infrastructure considerations. While Romania provided stunning castles for Season 1, winter shooting conditions and studio space limitations pushed Netflix and MGM to take advantage of Ireland’s expansive studio infrastructure and state tax credits.
Q2: Why did Percy Hynes White not return as Xavier Thorpe?
A2: Following social media allegations in early 2023, creative executives decided to conclude Xavier's arc off-screen between seasons. The character was written out to streamline the storyline, remove the love triangle aspect, and focus more intensely on supernatural mystery and horror elements.
Q3: Did Gwendoline Christie make any appearances after Principal Weems died?
A3: No. Larissa Weems suffered a fatal dose of nightshade poison at the climax of Season 1. Despite fan theories that the character used shape-shifting magic to fake her demise, the showrunners kept the death permanent, allowing new leadership to take over Nevermore Academy in subsequent seasons.
