Unpacking the Charlie Kirk Tiktok Memes: Viral Formats, Ai Edits, and School Scandals
By James H. Sterling
The online trend quickly materialized in physical spaces. On October 3, 2026, social media personality and activist account Libs of TikTok published photos from a homecoming pep rally at Blue Valley High School in Overland Park, Kansas.
Images showed high school students in a packed gymnasium holding a large, hand-painted banner depicting one of the distorted Charlie Kirk meme faces. The banner circulated widely on X (formerly Twitter), where Libs of TikTok tagged the school district and demanded disciplinary action against the students involved.
The post triggered hundreds of angry calls to the Blue Valley School District administration. Local parents expressed shock that an event meant to build school spirit was co-opted by an abrasive national political controversy. District officials issued a brief statement confirming they were reviewing the circumstances surrounding the rally, while legal experts pointed out that student expression cases face strict First Amendment protections unless an action causes substantial school disruption.
