The Carole Baskin Dance Clip: Frame-by-Frame Breakdown of the Viral Video
By David Miller
For two years, Baskin publicly condemned the sound. She criticized the track during interviews, emphasizing that Lewis’s disappearance was a tragedy, not a punchline. That position shifted abruptly in the spring of 2022.
The TikTok video opened with Baskin positioned between two young men wearing feline-print apparel. Wearing her trademark floral blouse, Baskin beamed at the camera. As the audio track played the lines accusing her of having "whacked" her husband, she executed the sequence step for step: rolling her arms, striking poses, and lip-syncing fragments of the chorus. Her facial expression remained bright throughout, directly contradicting the dark tone of the lyrics.
The upload gathered over 3.5 million views within 24 hours. Viewers flooded the comments section with disbelief. Some believed she had been tricked by fans who layered the audio track over an unrelated video after filming. Baskin quickly dispelled that theory, confirming she willingly engaged in the dance to show she could laugh at the internet's obsession. By leaning directly into the meme, she effectively removed its power as an offensive weapon against her.
