Discovering these real funny place names requires different skills than looking for staged software easter eggs. Developers occasionally hide jokes within the Google platform, such as Pegman transforming into a spaceship over Area 51 or a royal carriage near Buckingham Palace. By contrast, road sign comedy relies entirely on physical fieldwork and ground verification.

When you suspect a sign might be an altered image or an internet myth, follow three direct validation steps:

1. Verify both map and satellite views: If the road designation appears on the vector map layer, check the satellite layer to ensure real structures and driveway approaches exist.
2. Step back two camera frames on Street View: Pranksters sometimes prop fake novelty signs against fence posts. Stepping forward or backward in Street View imagery lets you cross-examine the sign across different camera passes and capture dates.
3. Inspect the county GIS cadastral layer: Most US counties maintain public parcel maps. Searching the local GIS database confirms whether the road is an official public right-of-way or an unmaintained private spur.
