Spotminders Vs. Apple Airtag: Testing Form Factor, Battery Life, and Stealth Claims
Can the Spotminders tracking card track items on Android devices?
No. The card is designed strictly for the Apple Find My network. While Android phones running modern anti-stalking detection software can scan for unauthorized background tracking accessories, they cannot be used to enroll, manage, or find a lost Spotminders card.
Does a standard RFID-blocking wallet completely disable the tracker?
It does not disable the card completely, but it substantially reduces the usable range. An unshielded wallet allows Bluetooth beacons out to 35 meters, whereas a rigid aluminum-clad wallet reduces that bubble down to roughly 8, 10 meters, slowing how quickly nearby iPhones pick up the card's beacon.
How loud is the internal speaker compared to an Apple AirTag?
The Spotminders card produces approximately 76 dB measured at a distance of 10 cm, compared to 82 dB on an AirTag. When buried beneath credit cards inside thick leather, the chime can sound muffled, requiring closer proximity to locate by ear.
Can the internal battery be replaced once it dies?
No. To maintain its 1.8mm profile, the outer shell is ultrasonic-welded and sealed. Attempting to cut open the casing damages the internal circuitry and poses a battery puncture risk. The card must be recycled responsibly through an e-waste program after its three-year lifespan.
