Soho House Manchester Opens at Last: the Journey to Atherton Street's Grand Debut
A walk through the private members club reveals how Soho House’s internal design team adapted its signature aesthetic to northern industrial architecture. Instead of mirroring the Georgian townhouse feel of London's Greek Street or the countryside rusticism of Soho Farmhouse, the Atherton Street property leans into mid-century studio warmth. Vintage 1950s furnishings sit against bespoke velvet booths, tactile ceramic lamps, and a curated regional art collection spotlighting local painters and printmakers.
The ground level houses a public-facing Cecconi’s restaurant and Mollie's Motel integration, while the upper club floors are strictly badge-access. The main floor features an exclusive lounge and dining room centered around a monolithic cocktail bar where timber paneling contrasts with industrial concrete ceilings. On the higher levels, 23 boutique hotel rooms cater to traveling members, complete with Marshall amps, freestanding bathtubs, and bespoke northern textile accents.
The crown jewel is the rooftop pool terrace. Heated for year-round operation, the outdoor pool overlooks the city skyline and the surrounding St John's development. Reviewing the space for The Daily Telegraph in May 2026, hotel critic Mark C. O'Flaherty noted that "when the sun shines, it’s going to be the place to be," pointing out that refreshingly unpretentious front-of-house staff helped ground what could have otherwise felt like an imported luxury bubble.
