Skip the Mid-Game Grind: the Fastest Somber Smithing Stone 5 Locations in Elden Ring
For players who prefer avoiding high-level underground threats entirely, the outer moat of the capital provides the safest pickup in the entire game. Head to the shallow lake bed south of the Leyndell Royal Capital outer wall and enter the Sealed Tunnel mine entrance. You can access this area without triggering any boss encounters simply by taking the Ruin-Strewn Precipice or using the Dectus Medallion.
The tunnel entrance contains a Site of Grace in a safe chamber. Walk directly south toward what appears to be a dead-end rock wall and strike it to reveal an illusory path. Proceed through the hidden opening into the mining cavern. Directly ahead, inside a ruined wooden stall surrounded by debris, rests a glowing corpse holding a Somber Smithing Stone [5]. You do not have to fight the miners or examine any deeper into the dungeon's lower shafts. Pick up the stone, turn around, and fast-travel out.
