The Christine Dacera Case Explained: Everything Known About Her Tragic Death
Dacera arrived at the City Garden Grand Hotel Makati on the afternoon of December 31, 2020, to ring in the New Year with close friends. The group, comprised primarily of gay flight crew colleagues and mutual acquaintances, booked Room 2207 for a private celebration. As the night progressed, members of their gathering made contact with an adjacent group in Room 2209, leading to hours of movement between the two suites.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) logs showed guests moving through the hotel hallway into the early morning hours of January 1. Footage recorded Dacera interacting with several men, conversing, drinking, and moving unassisted between rooms. Her companions later testified that she began vomiting and feeling unwell before dawn. They moved her to the bathroom, attempting to help her recover before placing her in the bathtub to prevent her from choking on vomit if left unattended on a bed.
By noon on January 1, companion Rommel Galido discovered Dacera cold, stiff, and unresponsive in the bathtub. The group attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation, alerted hotel security, and transported her to Makati Medical Center. Attending physicians declared her dead on arrival at approximately 5:00 PM. What began as a celebration ended as a devastating flight attendant tragedy that left a grieving family demanding immediate answers.
