Is Tiktok Auto-Scroll Ruining Your Feed? Why Millions Are Turning It off and How to Fix It
TikTok introduced its built-in auto-scroll capability to retain users during passive consumption sessions. Activating it takes seconds once you know where the hidden prompt lives.
Open the app and navigate to your main feed. Press and hold down your finger on any blank section of the screen, away from the comment, like, and share icons on the right margin. A contextual grid will surface from the bottom. Look for an icon marked with two stacked arrows pointing upward labeled Auto-scroll. Tapping this icon engages the hands-free player immediately.
Once engaged, every video plays to its final frame before automatically swiping up to the next clip. A small, persistent indicator pill marked with an upward chevron sits in the top or bottom corner of your display. To disengage the feature, tap that floating chevron icon directly. Alternatively, press and hold the screen once more and tap Manual scroll. The feed will instantly lock back into standard single-swipe operation.
