Reynolds has also directed his visibility into large-scale social work. Raised within a conservative faith, he began actively speaking out in defense of LGBTQ+ youth after witnessing friends struggle with isolation, mental health challenges, and high suicide rates.
In 2017, he founded the LOVELOUD Foundation, launching an annual music and arts festival in Utah designed to promote acceptance, build bridges between religious families and queer communities, and raise millions of dollars for youth crisis charities like The Trevor Project and Encircle. The initiative became the focal point of the 2018 HBO documentary Believer, which followed Reynolds as he confronted church doctrine while demanding unconditional love for vulnerable teens.
