Horimiya Franchise Timeline: from Webcomic Roots to 'The Missing Pieces' and Beyond
By Alexander Ross
Q1: Is Horimiya Season 3 officially canceled?
A1: Season 3 was never commissioned in the first place, meaning no formal cancellation notice exists. The anime adaptation reached its planned narrative conclusion with the series finale of The Missing Pieces.
Q2: In what order should I watch Horimiya and The Missing Pieces?
A2: For emotional pacing, watch Season 1 in its entirety first, followed by The Missing Pieces as a nostalgic revisit. For strict chronological order, fans maintain episode-by-episode watch guides that insert Missing Pieces episodes into their exact moments within the Season 1 timeline.
Q3: Does the manga show Hori and Miyamura's future after graduation?
A3: The official serialized manga ends directly at high school graduation. HERO's self-published webcomic features brief flash-forwards, including glimpses of their future lives and their child, Souta's teenage years, but these strips have not been adapted into commercial anime form.
