Handsfree Labs Announces Blue Ox: Release Details, Specs, and Features
The initial Blue Ox launch strategy focuses on two utilitarian architectures: a traditional six-inch lace-up silhouette with an internal step-in system, and a rugged pull-on Wellington-style boot. Both designs bypass the primary headache of industrial footwear: the physical struggle of heel capture.
The six-inch lace-up model gives operators the familiar lock-down feel of traditional boots. You lace the boot once to calibrate fit across the instep and ankle, double-knot the laces, and never touch them again. The heel counter folds flat as the foot slides inward, popping upright automatically once the heel settles against the footbed. The pull-on silhouette modifies the classic wedge-sole roper style, removing the need for boot jacks or strained finger loops at the end of a shift.
Both models carry full-grain waterproof leather uppers sourced from certified tanneries, reinforced rubber scuff caps over the toe box, and high-traction rubber outsoles engineered for sub-zero flexibility. Retail pricing ranges between $190 and $225 depending on the safety-toe configuration, placing the line directly in line with mid-tier and premium safety footwear.
