From Nashville Demo to Drake Remix: the Complete Evolution of 'Choosin' Texas'
By James H. Sterling
As documented in a detailed Whiskey Riff timeline tracking the track's trajectory, "Choosin' Texas" bypassed traditional radio development schedules. Commercial country stations added the single out of sheer listener demand, pushing it into the Country Airplay Top 10 at record velocity. But the track's real test arrived when it challenged mainstream pop juggernauts on the multi-metric Billboard Hot 100.
Streaming metrics did not peak and dissipate after initial release weeks; instead, consumption patterns widened. The single broke the all-time longevity threshold reported by music publications in September 2026, logging 24 total weeks atop the Hot 100. It officially eclipsed previous historic records, sustained by unprecedented daily catalog streaming and cross-format rotation across adult contemporary, pop, and country frequencies.
