Discover key updates on Fact-Checking Kelsey Plum's Viral Popcorn Clip: Origin, Timeline, and What She Really Said.

Every athlete meme eventually intersects with unexpected digital personalities. In April 2024, former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown brought renewed mainstream attention to the footage. Following news regarding Plum's personal life and divorce from NFL tight end Darren Waller, Brown resurfaced the popcorn video on X (formerly Twitter), accompanying it with provocative captions suggesting romantic interest.

Brown’s antics continued into 2026, when he recycled the clip once more to capture viral impressions. The interaction illustrates how modern celebrity viral moments get hijacked. A mundane courtside occurrence became weaponized as digital pick-up material and tabloid bait. Plum refused to take the bait publicly. Her restraint kept Brown's overtures confined to speculative gossip columns, avoiding unnecessary social media disputes that often derail an active athlete's competitive focus.
