Fact Check: the Real Story and Origins Behind 'Now and Forever I Will Care'
By David Miller
Q1: Is "Now and Forever I Will Care" an official song title?
No. The lyric is commonly misidentified as a title, but the correct song is "I Care for You," written by Dean Pitchford and John Sebastian for the 1986 film Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation.
Q2: Did Richard Marx sing "Now and Forever I Will Care"?
No. Richard Marx released the multi-platinum acoustic ballad "Now and Forever" in 1994, which features the line "Now and forever, you are still the one." His song does not include the phrase "now and forever I will care."
Q3: Why can't music apps like Shazam always recognize the audio?
Many versions circulating online have been altered in tempo, pitch, or equalization. Additionally, obscure soundtrack cuts often lack comprehensive acoustic fingerprinting across commercial music recognition databases.
