Fact Check: Is John Doe Hacking Roblox Accounts Again in 2026?
By Chloe Bennett
The rumor that refuses to die has survived several major platform overhauls, shifting formats as social video replaced legacy forum boards. Tracking its evolution shows how a minor clerical adjustment inside the platform database morphed into an enduring digital boogeyman.
| Timeframe | Catalyst Event | Platform Reality |
|---|---|---|
| 2005, 2006 | Creation of User ID 2 and User ID 3 | Internal QA testing by platform developers |
| 2016, 2017 | Viral YouTube videos invent the "March 18 Purge" | Mass hysteria; official staff publish debunking notices |
| 2020, 2022 | TikTok resurrects the March 18 narrative | DualShockers and Pocket Tactics publish detailed fact-checks |
| 2023, 2026 | Generative clip tools automate urban legend memes | Account remains permanently archived and unplayable |
Every single March since 2017 has passed without incident. Servers remained online, inventories remained intact, and User ID 2 stayed firmly offline. The pattern demonstrates that the cycle is driven entirely by creator incentives rather than software exploits.
