Fact-Checking Antony Blinken’s Family: Ages, Security Protocols, and Protest Claims
Antony Blinken married Evan Ryan, a veteran foreign policy adviser and White House Cabinet Secretary, in 2002. Unlike many senior cabinet officials whose children are grown adults, Blinken and Ryan started their family later in life. They have two children: a son born in March 2019 and a daughter born in February 2020.
When the protests reached their peak in early 2024, the children were just four and three years old. Their young ages fueled wild online rumors. Threads on X and TikTok claimed that the children were escorted out of the country, that demonstrators had penetrated the front yard, or that federal agents had engaged in armed confrontations on the lawn.
None of those claims were true. Independent police logs from Arlington County and State Department reports confirm that at no point was the perimeter breached. While the noise and persistent visual demonstrations caused significant domestic stress, the children were never in direct physical danger from protesters, nor were they secretly flown abroad as viral posts claimed.
