Who Is Josh Hawley's Family? Everything to Know About His Wife, Kids, and Beliefs
Josh Hawley and Erin Morrow crossed paths inside the classrooms of Yale Law School, graduating together in the class of 2006. At the time, both were already known in Federalist Society circles as sharp intellectual defenders of constitutional originalism. Raised on a cattle ranch in Des Moines, New Mexico, Erin brought a grounded western sensibility, having completed her undergraduate studies in animal science at Texas A&M University with a 4.0 GPA. Josh, the son of a banker and a teacher, came via Stanford University with a deep interest in Teddy Roosevelt's trust-busting and Christian social ethics.
Their relationship deepened as their clerkships mirrored one another. Josh clerked for Judge Michael W. McConnell on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit before clerking for Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts during the 2007, 2008 term. Erin clerked for Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III on the Fourth Circuit before joining Roberts’ chambers as a clerk the very next year.
They married in 2010, uniting two elite legal resumes. Both worked in private practice and academia, eventually teaching alongside each other at the University of Missouri School of Law in Columbia. While Josh shifted toward electoral politics, winning the Missouri Attorney General race in 2016 and defeating incumbent Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill in 2018, Erin maintained an active appellate portfolio that ultimately led to national legal prominence.
