Everything You Need to Know About Carlo Ancelotti's Wife and Family Life
Before his union with Barrena McClay, Ancelotti spent a quarter-century married to Luisa Gibellini. Their shared history traced back to childhood roots in the Reggiolo countryside. Gibellini stood beside him through his playing career at AS Roma and AC Milan, as well as his transformation into a championship-winning manager during the 1990s and 2000s.
Gibellini was known for her adventurous spirit. A licensed helicopter pilot, she occasionally flew Ancelotti home from Milanello after intense training sessions to help him escape northern Italy's notorious traffic. Together, they raised two children, Katia and Davide. The pressures of perpetual travel and managerial relocations eventually took their toll, leading to an amicable separation in 2008 and a finalized divorce in 2010.
Tragedy struck the family in May 2021 when Gibellini passed away at age 63 following a long illness. Despite having moved on to new chapters in their respective lives, Ancelotti flew directly to Italy from England, where he was managing Everton at the time, to pay his final respects. The Ancelotti family maintains deep reverence for Gibellini's role in building the foundation upon which Carlo, Katia, and Davide built their lives.
