Disney's Live-Action Tiana Movie Is Happening: the Complete Creative Timeline
By Elena Rostova
Every phase of development has drawn viral online campaigns. Social media feeds regularly feature fan-made concept posters pairing various actresses with the green dress. R&B singer and actress Coco Jones frequently emerges as an audience favorite due to her vocal range and statuesque presence. Broadway performers like Renée Rapp and screen figures like Ryan Destiny and Lovie Simone have also circulated in online speculation.
None of these rumors have studio backing. As of late 2026, Disney has not issued an open casting call or formally engaged talent agencies for the lead role. Casting for high-budget Disney musical remakes typically begins only after a completed screenplay clears executive review and a director signs on. Domingo's script remains the active focus of the creative phase.
Online confusion deepened when unverified entertainment blogs suggested Anika Noni Rose might reprise the role on-screen. While Rose returned to voice the character in 2018's Ralph Breaks the Internet and 2024's theme park installations, she has publicly supported handing the live-action role to a younger generation. A live-action Tiana must realistically read as a woman in her early twenties scraping together waitressing wages to purchase a sugar mill.
