In February 1997, at age 22, Shweta married industrialist Nikhil Nanda, currently the Chairman and Managing Director of Escorts Kubota Limited. Nikhil is also the grandson of legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor, bridging two of India’s most historically influential cinema households: the Bachchans and the Kapoors.
The union anchored her adult life largely in New Delhi’s industrial executive circles rather than Mumbai’s film circuit. The couple welcomed two children: daughter Navya Naveli Nanda in December 1997, and son Agastya Nanda in November 2000.
